Building Awareness. Building Support. Making Food Matter
35% of Denver residents experience food insecurity.
Food insecurity is more common—and often less visible—than many of us realize
Creating a Shared Story About Food Insecurity
The Southwest Food Coalition is working alongside community partners and a communications consultant to develop a citywide education and awareness campaign around food insecurity in Denver.
Our goal is to create a shared set of clear, compelling messages that community organizations, residents, elected officials, funders, businesses, and other partners can use to talk about food insecurity—what it looks like today, why it matters, and what we can do about it.
We believe that when more people understand the role food plays in the health and stability of our communities, we can build broader support for the investments and systems changes needed to ensure everyone has access to the food they need.
What's Coming
Over the coming months, we'll use what we learn to develop messaging, talking points, educational materials, social media content, and other resources that partners across Denver can use.
This work is still in development. More information, tools, and opportunities to get involved are coming soon.
Together, we can help make food insecurity more visible—and make food access a priority for Denver
