Community Learning and Support

Our members made it clear that they are eager for a space to learn, grow and receive support. We provide this support by creating opportunities for knowledge and skill building, providing resources and connecting our community to other local and regional partners.

Trainings

When it comes to learning, it’s clear that our community has a strong desire to gain more knowledge. Training in best practices supports better services, improved food access, and stronger networks. In 2024, the Southwest Food Coalition hosted eight trainings for partner organizations and community members including Trauma Informed Care, Insurance and Advocacy 101, and LGBTQ+ Inclusivity.

We continue prioritizing community learning and plan to host even more trainings in the upcoming year.

Support and facilitating connections

Working in food access can be exhausting. Our Coalition Members love having a space to talk about challenges and lean on each other. We encourage each other, share food, share resources and as our world constantly changes, we rely on each for support.

We work hard to provide a space for connections in the food systems. We help connect community partners to sources of food, volunteers, funding, and regional supports. We help connect residents to resources, community partners, and opportunities to impact our food system.

Facilitating these connections creates a more resilient, equitable, and effective food system.
